The RipIT Faac howto

I will not give any comments of the usability of faac to create m4a files for the *NOT TO USE* e-Tunes and the ugly (*wannabe*) e-pots. It's all so *eee*!!! Use it at your own risk!

Infos about the free advanced audio codec may be found at the Faac home.
Download

RPMs may be downloaded here !

Tarballs can be found using the link to the info page (above).
Installation

NOTE: You need the decoder faaD because of the libmp4 library, which is not include in the encoder faaC.
First install the decoder FAAD, then the codec FAAC.

Installation of the RPMs should be clear if you followed instructions to install the RipIT-RPM.

Installation of the tarballs did not work for me. Try it anyway! As described in the INSTALL file, the installation goes straight in 3 classical steps (be sure to cd to the according directory)!
Logged in as su (super-user, with the Substitute-User command) you type
  • ./configure
  • make
  • make install
  • and you're done!
